VH1 Behind the Scenes: Jess Lourey

Julia Buckley, author of Dark Backward and consummate interviewer, has probed the heck out of me in an insightful interview. I'll be returning the favor next week. And I love the title of Julia's blog--"Mysterious Musings"--but I think "Mysterious Muffins" would be more provocative. People would look for all sorts of meaning that wasn't there.

  1. That is a very nice interview.

I don't think you are insane enough to be a successful writer. You seem far too organized and centered.

    (I'm kidding, of course.)

  2. Now that I look at this again, I should clarify that I am kidding about the insanity part, not the organized and centered part.

  3. Great interview, Jess! I also loved the blog about Paynesville and the newspaper. Speaking of Paynesville, do you know the Westvigs?

  4. Jess,
I enjoyed the VH1 parallel. This is the new frontier for mystery marketing: the annoying interview show with lots of camera angles.

  5. Ha ha! I AM insanely organized, if that counts for anything.

Bots, the Westvigs owned the Dairy Queen. You betcha I knew them. I used to order blueberry shakes like they were going out of style.

Julia, the interview camera is coming your way soon. Watch out!

  6. Did you know Russell Westvig? He used to be a cop, but is now a construction guy, or maybe a trucker. He's also a Harley guy. Every so often he stops by –leather, tattoos, and pure burly– to scare the crap out of my neighborhood. He's a tender guy, however, and he has had tea parties with my girls...
(Ok, so this isn't sounding so good all of the sudden.) We'll have to talk about Russell one of these days. Stop by my office.
